About (short version)

Welcome to my weblog, which I use for keeping track of interesting stuff. It serves as my basecamp for the exploration of the Internet, the "Blogosphere" and life in general.

Listening to Bloggercon IV sessions

The unconference Bloggercon IV is already two weeks behind us, but I am still enjoying the recordings you can find at the official website.

There are actually 14 of these recordings and I guess they make up for a total of around 12 hours of entertainment and education. It is really fun to listen to a lot of smart people discussing topics like citizen journalism, making money from blogging and video blogging.

What is also very handy is that during the conference Doc Searls created an outline of each session (you can hear him typing on his laptop sometimes during the sessions).

One of the sessions that made a very great impression on me was the Emotional Life session led by Lisa Williams. The central theme of the session was “Why do you blog?” and this brought up some nice and emotional thoughts.
The latter was especially the case when someone from the audience (Terry) shared the experience he had when blogging about the death of his young wife and support he got from out of the Blogoshere. In his words “the community held me up” and “the blogosphere is a community, a social phenomenon more than a tech phenomomenon”. Through my headphones I could hear how the emotion of that moment silenced the audience…

Still have some sessions to go. It’s highly recommended, if you can find the time.
